WHAT IS SIBOW? WHO'S IT FOR? HOW IT HELPS HOW IT'S MADE
HOW IT HELPS

Sibow can be placed in 3 different locations to focus on many types of interventions depending on the child's individual strengths, weaknesses, and target areas of improvement. All three locations can assist with improving sensorimotor, cognitive, and psychosocial components of a child's life.

Various uses

Placing Sibow on a platform swing.   Children could play the Simon games with their feet, challenging and improving their dynamic standing balance and postural control.

On the ground while child is prone (on belly) on platform swing or supporting himself on propped elbows laying on mat.   The focus is upper extremity strengthening (proximal strengthening by supporting body on elbows and distal hand strengthening by pushing down buttons) and strengthening of back muscles to improve postural control for upright sitting in chair.

Using Velcro to attach Sibow to the wall.   This would promote arm/upper extremity strengthening by working their arms against gravity to push the buttons as well as facilitate wrist extension.  The child could be working in half-kneel or while sitting on a T-stool while Sibow is at eye level.

IMPROVED SKILLS

The perceptual sensorimotor components inproved include kinesthesia, body scheme, right-left discrimination, and depth perception. Neuromuscular components improved include strength, endurance, and postural control. Gross motor components that are improved by the Sibow include gross coordination, crossing the midline, and laterality.

The cognitive components improved included attention span, memory, sequencing, and problem solving. The psychosocial skills of interpersonal skills can be improved when the game is used by two children at the same time helping them to communicate using verbal and nonverbal communication.
